'The O.C' Lost Some Luster, Gets Moved

After three seasons of hit episodes, Fox Television saw itself in a difficult position when the first episode of the fourth season opened so low in terms of audience that the network came in fourth in the chart of people's choice.

So, instead of pushing the show and losing audience, the network executives decided to move back to its initial slot, on Wednesday night (9 P.M), where it will hopefully get back some of the fans it lost with the premiere of the new season.

Also, because of the devastating results the polls showed – 'The O.C.' was watched by only 3.4 million viewers last week – Fox plans either to run repeats of the episodes or new ones on Thursday at the same hour; which one of these two alternatives will be taken remains to be decided today.

In the same move to attempt some damage control, the network axed the comedy 'Happy Hour' and the reality show 'The Rich List', with the latter opening so poor in terms of audience that the decision was taken almost on the spot. 'Happy Hour' will be replaced by re-runs of another sitcom, ''Till Death'.

However, speaking of the show that made Mischa Barton, Rachel Bilson and Adam Brody into genuine small screen idols, will still have to face some tough competition, even if moved to the initial running day: ABC has 'Lost' back on track, while CBS is coming strong from behind with the drama 'Criminal Minds'.
