Madonna Puts the M Back in H&M

In May this year, Madonna signed a deal with one of Europe's biggest clothing retailers, H&M, that supplied her and her dancers and entourage with clothes to wear off stage for her world 'Confessions' tour. After the legendary singer had her face associated with the fashion magnate Hennes & Mauritsz, it was only logical that they ask her to design her own line of clothing.

While the H&M head of design Margareta van den Bosch said that the singer got involved in every stage of the campaign, her new line 'M by Madonna' will allow her to fully explore her artistic side, by giving her a free hand to designing women's clothes. After striking the deal, the new line has been scheduled to come out next year in March.

A spokesperson for the retailer said they decided to go with the 'Material Girl' because she is just one of those figures that made history not only via their music, but also because of their out of the common fashion choices. Besides, Madonna's unique and unmatchable style will be infused into the new creations and, in this way, every person on the street will be able to relate better to her.

As for the singer, she is more than happy with her new found career. In a statement released yesterday, Madonna said: 'I've made no secret of my love for fashion and trends. Working with Margareta and H&M was an exciting and new creative challenge for me. I'm really happy with the results and look forward to wearing “M by Madonna” along with the rest of the world'.
