Britney and Kevin Agree on Shared Custody 06 January, 2007

Britney and Kevin Agree on Shared Custody

With all this talk about Britney Spears, her party antics and her chances of a music comeback, people tended to forget that she was also a mother of two (the times when her parenting skills were questioned do not count) – Sean Preston Federline (16 months) and Jayden James (4 months).

When the former pop teen idol's decision to file for divorce from backup dancer turned rapper Kevin Federline, the greatest buzz was about how much money he would get after the case is closed and about who would get the two children. At the time, Britney seemed to be the more mature, responsible and financially stable of the two...

K-Fed repeatedly threatened his soon to be ex-wife that he would do anything to get full physical custody of the children, no matter what he would have to do for it (sell an alleged sex-tape of them two, write a book about her dark past as a bisexual, drug addict and bad mother or even sell his story to the highest bidder). In the end, he was satisfied with the little he got and thanked the gods for the unexpected opportunity.

Court papers filed yesterday show that the two feuding spouses have reached an agreement to share the custody of the two boys. Well, until the end of January, at least. The understanding, which becomes null on January 31st, stipulates that K-Fed would be granted full visitation rights, without being interfered.

'Full' is not quite the correct term in this case, as neither is 'shared custody'. It would be more appropriate to say that Britney is just showing Kevin what his post-divorce life will look like. Basically, the terms of the agreement are the following: from noon to 4 P.M. on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, Federline is allowed to spend time with the children, at Britney's house but that will happen only a week from today, as she is to take them with her on holiday, to Miami.

The singer, on the other hand, is only asked to make sure that 'no third party' interferes with Kevin's visits and that there are no strange persons in the house at the time he comes to see them. In other words, 'shared custody' gets a totally new meaning for Kevin: he has to play nice on Britney's turf. And this is only the beginning.

We will keep you posted with more details about the Spears-Federline divorce so stay tuned.
