Paris Hilton and Her Slutty Outfits Make a Comeback

Halloween is usually that time of the year when people who have enough money to (theoretically) afford buying just about any costume available, irrespective of how much is costs, usually make fools of themselves and expose themselves to public ridicule by showing up dressed in probably the silliest, worst, sluttiest outfits imaginable. Halloween, in other words, is just another confirmation of the fact that money can't buy you brains and that the line between funny and grotesque (not to mention slutty) is indeed very thin and those who cross it are usually those from who you would expect better.

Take Paris Hilton for instance. For a woman who's fighting (or so we're lead to believe) to be taken seriously and to turn her life around after a series of not-so-pleasant events including a DUI bust-up and almost a month spent in prison, she's sure not doing much to help her own public image.

I just had a flashback to that time about a month ago when Paris had the bad inspiration of putting in an appearance at David Letterman's Late Show on CBS and found herself heavily ridiculed for her jail stint – after apparently being led to believe she was going to be asked about her upcoming movie and her exploits into the world of fashion and perfume design.

And now, to cap it all, Paris basically dug another nail in her "take me seriously" coffin by showing up dressed like a cheap...well, something, flashing her a*s and managing to look a little more than ridiculous.

I knew I'd never be able to be a Paris fan – I haven't even tried – but for a while there, I must admit she had me going with all the "reformed life", "charity trip to Rwanda" (which was canceled due to undisclosed administrative reasons, by the way), "donate clothes to charity" thing. But not any more – and before you think I'm over reacting, I want to remind you that I'm perfectly aware of the fact that Halloween is all about making fun of yourself and (deliberately) looking like a bit of an idiot – but there are ways and ways of doing this, and Paris, I'm afraid to say, made the wrong choice – again. Oh well – I guess some things really never change.
